 History
WellDynamics’ SmartWell® intelligent completion technology was the first of its kind, developed by our predecessor, Petroleum Engineering Services (PES), as part of a joint industry project in 1997.
Halliburton acquired PES in 2000, and formed WellDynamics in 2001 as a joint venture with Shell Technology Ventures to help customers optimize production by remotely controlling flow into and out of the reservoir. In 2005, WellDynamics expanded its product offerings to include permanent monitoring capabilities by acquiring Wood Group’s ProTech division; and further extended its monitoring strength with the acquisition of Halliburton’s RPM group in 2006.
On July 1, 2008, Halliburton purchased Shell Technology Venture’s outstanding shares, and today WellDynamics is owned 100% by Halliburton International Inc.
