WellDynamics Norge Awarded Major SmartWell® Contract
June 9 , 2003 - WellDynamics Norge today announced it has been awarded a three-year contract with two two-year extension options with Statoil.
The contract, from May 2003 to June 2006, includes the delivery and installation of downhole instrumentation and control systems to a minimum of three Snorre B Wells.
The Statoil-operated Snorre B Field, located in the Tampen Area of the Norwegian Continental Shelf, is the first development based on SmartWell® technology.
Development drilling started in 2001 and WellDynamics has already installed Surface Controlled Reservoir Analysis and Management Systems (SCRAMS®) equipment in four wells.
The field comprises subsea wells drilled from a semi-submersible drilling and production platform. The Snorre reservoir has a complex structure with varying properties and several flow barriers so the installation of SmartWells is essential in order to achieve viable production rates and maximise recovery efficiency.
The systems can be remotely operated either from the Snorre B platform or from Statoil's offices in Stavanger , enabling real-time optimisation of the injection and production rates.
